Celebrate Star Wars Day With a Quick Trip to Tatooine

May 4, 2010

May 4th is celebrated by geeks around the world as Star Wars Day. (May the 4th be with you!)

It’s not an official holiday so don’t expect your professors to let you out of class, but there are still ways you can enjoy the day and show your appreciation for all that Star Wars has meant to you.

First, Gap Adventures would like you to consider their Blue Harvest tour of the galaxy. No, it’s not real, but it would be awesome if it was. Just reading the itinerary makes me feel like Princess Leia.

Next, how about seeing Star Wars: In Concert? A live symphony orchestra and chorus performs the music of Star Wars to footage from all six films, which is shown on a massive LED screen. C-3PO himself, Anthony Daniels, hosts the performance. Star Wars: In concert is playing all over the U.S. and Canada this summer, so maybe you and your best Jedi friends can plan a road trip to catch the show.

Finally, if you want to see the celebrities, the droids, the crazy fans and all the people who continue to run the Star Wars universe, you have to attend Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this August. Get a student airfare, ask a Travel CUTS agent to hook you up with an a room (the Palm Lakefront Resort & Hostel is about 10 miles away but has great rates), and then polish up your lightsaber.
